Caprolactam-grade amsul falls before rally; compacted material tracks weaker standard grades

Standard amsul weekly prices are at $157-170/t fob, while daily prices are indicated at $160-170/t fob.
Amsul prices continuously fell throughout the week, largely owing to softening urea prices, and lower prices of concluded domestic tenders. Some traders were also shorting the market, expecting further price declines especially as buyers are indicating interest in the $155-160/t fob range.
But prices picked up in the latter half of the week to $170-175/t fob owing to escalations in tensions in the Middle East, and suppliers are also anticipating demand to pick up in the coming weeks from southeast Asia, Europe and Brazil.
A supplier sold 4,000t of standard caprolactam-grade amsul at $170/t fob for August shipment to America.
Southern producer Fujian Tianchen closed a tender on 7 July to sell 6,000t of standard caprolactam-grade amsul at levels equivalent to $157.50/t fob for loading by 10 August.
Another southern producer Highsun has likely suspended its 9 July tender to sell standard caprolactam-grade amsul for first half of August loading.
Compacted amsul prices softened slightly to $170-175/t fob largely owing to the fall in standard amsul prices. But demand is expected to pick up in the coming weeks especially from Brazil and Europe.
There was a reported deal of 8,000-10,000t of compacted amsul that traded in the $175-180/t fob for July shipment.
MMA-grade amsul prices were indicated in the mid $130/t fob.
